MathGym is in beta. We read every message and your reports directly shape the product.

FAQ & Troubleshooting

Since we're currently in beta, you might occasionally run into a few hiccups. Here's how to solve common issues!

Uploading Problems

Why won't my image upload?expand_more

Files need to be under 20 MB. We support most standard image formats (PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, GIF, BMP, and TIFF).

Have a PDF? No problem! You can upload it directly, and our built-in cropper will help you select and stitch the pages you need. If your image is too large, try taking a tighter crop or a slightly lower-resolution photo. If it's an unsupported format (like SVG or RAW), you'll just need to convert it first.

The app picked the wrong math topic for my problem.expand_more

Oops! Sometimes our classifier gets a little confused. The best fix is to re-upload a tighter crop that only shows the specific problem you want to work on.

If it keeps happening, use the Upload or classification issue email card above — include your session URL and which problem was misclassified so we can investigate.

My upload has been stuck on “processing” for a while.expand_more

Hang tight! It can take about 1-2 minutes to process the problem. But if it's been more than 5 minutes, try giving the page a quick refresh. If it's still stuck after that, shoot us an email with your session URL and we'll look into it.

Training Sessions

I can't see the graph for my training session problem.expand_more

A quick page refresh usually does the trick! If the graph still refuses to load, use the Report button on that problem so we can fix it.

I'm sure my answer is right, but it was marked wrong!expand_more

Math formatting can be picky! Try entering your answer in a different equivalent form. For example, try 1/2 instead of 0.5, or rationalize the denominator (like \sqrt{2}/2 instead of 0.707...).

You can also ask the AI tutor for a hint on how to format your answer. If you've tried everything and it still marks you wrong, use the Report button on the problem.

Chatting with the AI Tutor

Why won't the tutor just give me the final answer?expand_more

Our goal is to make working through math problems feel smooth and enjoyable, not frustrating. Your AI tutor is right there with you to help you process the problem step-by-step.

Instead of just handing over the final number, it provides just enough hints to keep you moving forward without taking the thinking away from you. It's all about giving you the exact support you need to maintain your momentum and confidently conquer the problem yourself.

The tutor said something confusing or incorrect.expand_more

We recommend you ask follow-up questions first. If you believe there is something wrong, use the Report button on the affected problem and pick the “Tutor / chat issue” option — your feedback directly helps the tutor get smarter.

What can the tutor actually see?expand_more

The tutor is focused entirely on the task at hand. It can see your current problem's statement and the intended solution. It doesn't look at your past problems or any of your account information.

What MathGym Covers (and Current Limitations)

Please remember that MathGym is a study aid meant to supplement your learning, not a replacement for your teacher or professor. The AI grades your original problem, and like any other large language models, it can occasionally make mistakes.
